Our long term goal is to develop a self-sustaining model of funding from income derived from an eco-tourism business. Until then, Walking with Maasai relies on donations from individuals, churches, trusts, foundations and businesses to cover the cost of its operation.
Funding raised in the UK for Walking with Maasai is managed by Walking with Maasai (UK) (registered charity number 1129481) whose aims fully align with those of Walking with Maasai in Kenya. Members of the Walking with Maasai UK team are also responsible for managing a number of major projects in Olorte, such as the Olkeju Arus bridge and Olorte airstrip reactivation.
Our aim this year is to attract five hundred individuals to become friends of Walking with Maasai, each making a small monthly donation towards the work in Olorte and becoming involved in supporting the Maasai communities. Over time, we plan to make increased use of communication technologies to connect our friends outside Kenya with the members of Olorte Community. We believe that through mutual sharing of skills and life experiences, both the Maasai and their global friends will benefit. If you are interested in becoming a friend, please email us and we’ll send you an information pack.
If you would like to make a donation to Walking with Maasai’s work, please send a cheque made payable to Walking with Maasai (UK) to:
